When should I book my wedding photographer?
You should book your wedding photographer as soon as you book your reception hall. This can be a year or even more before your wedding. This also locks you into my current collection rates.
What is a retainer fee?
A retainer fee holds your date for your wedding from anyone else, this is non-refundable but will be applied to the balance of your wedding collection.
When should we do our engagement session?
I suggest doing you engagement session at least 6 months in advance of your wedding, especially if you are planning to send out save the dates. If you are booking closer to your wedding and not planning to sending out save the dates then that time frame won’t matter as much. The engagement session is a great time for us to get to know each other and to also create some gorgeous images that are more casual than those we will create on your wedding day.
How long do we need for bridal party photos and for pictures of me and my spouse?
I need at least 1.5-2 hours to achieve all the wedding party photos, family photos and most importantly the images of you and your spouse. We will start with your family photos, then move to the bridal party and then end with you and your partner. For the images with you and your partner it is easiest if it just us and perhaps you maid of honor or best man or closest attendant. It is usually best to send everyone else away or out of sight for these so I can have your complete attention, this is also one of the first times in the day you and your partner will not be surrounded by so many people and is often a nice break in the hustle and bustle of the day.
Do I need to feed you?
Yes, that way I will eat when you eat and be able to grab my camera if a moment arises during the dinner. Also sometimes venues and wedding planners try to do give vendors their meals in a different area, just be aware if you put me in another room I will not be able to capture anything during this time.
How long until I can see my photos?
I will post a sneak peek within the week after your wedding and I aim to have all the images for wedding clients available to view within 6-8 weeks with the upgraded option of rush turn-around available to view your images 10 days.
Why don’t I get to see all the photos you took, you seemed to of taken thousands?
You wouldn’t want to see all the photos I took, I cull them for you so you are seeing the best of each part of your day. I choose the ones that are up to my high technical standards as well as ones with the best expressions and eye contact. This culling process is something that I have down to a science and I promise i'm not hiding any amazing photos since I want all your amazing photos hanging on your walls and in your wedding album!
Why do I need anything other than the digital files from you and why do all of your packages have products included without the ability to swap them out for a discount.
I believe in making photographs, and without printing your images they are just a .jpg file that will live and die on your computer. Having something tangible to hold is important because in years from now our children, and our children’s children will want to remember where they came from and who you are. You can’t frame a hard drive. When it comes down to it I want to make your life easier and provide you with something you will be proud of and want to display in your home. You are investing not just your money with me but also your time. I want you to have something to show for that. Because of this belief all of my collections include some form of product.
